If there is one thing that both sellers and buyers look forward to each month, it’s the release of a new product. Whether it’s sports or TCG, a fresh card set will have the community in a frenzy. Let’s take a look at some of the recent and upcoming card releases for May 2024.
2024 Bowman Baseball
Last week, the 2024 Bowman Baseball set was released and it’s flying off the shelves. With a new year comes new prospects, and this set has many highly anticipated cards such as autographs, Refractors, and up-and-comers. The base set has 100 cards, with both rookies and veterans and additionally, it will have 150 separately numbered Prospect cards.
2023-24 Panini Crown Royale
Recently released on May 8th, 2024 the hits in the new Panini Crown Royale Basketball collection are WILD! Along with the popular Kaboom cards, one can expect to see one of the sport’s more distinct base sets, die-cuts, a variety of signatures, memorabilia, and other inserts. It’s time to go kaboom hunting!
Pokémon Twilight Masquerade
Pokémon's newest TCG expansion for Scarlet and Violet will be released on May 24, 2024. This set consists of 226 cards, 14 new Pokémon ex cards, more than 30 Trainer cards, and dozens of mesmerizing special illustration cards. With characters and Pokémon from the land of Kitakami, collectors and gamers alike need to get their hands on this new set.
One Piece OP:08 Two Legends
A smaller but still exciting release is the Japanese set of the latest One Piece TCG, OP08: Two Legends dropping May 25, 2024, which is a first look before the English release coming in September 2024. The set contains new leader cards, rarities, and a Manga Rare Silvers Rayleigh. New deck themes featuring the Whitebeard Pirates, Beasts Pirates, and Big Mom Pirates will also be available!
2024 Bowman Mega Box
Somebody call Austin Powers cause we’ve got the mojo right here on Whatnot! Coming soon on May 29th, 2024 the Bowman Mega Box Baseball set will be released. It consists of 50 base set cards and 50 prospect cards. The 4 base packs included are from the 2024 Bowman Baseball set from earlier in May as well as the two exclusive Bowman Chrome Megapacks that have the “mojo” pattern.
Disney Lorcana Ursula’s Return
On May 17, 2024, the newest Loranca set, Ursula’s Return, will be released in hobby shops and shortly after will be widely available everywhere on May 31st, 2024. If you’re not already familiar with Lorcana, the card game features various characters, songs, moments, locations, and references from across Disney animated history. Whether you are a dedicated TCG collector or a Disney enthusiast, this new set is worth the hype because it is introducing a new story franchise that includes characters from one of Disney’s most recent movies, Encanto.
