New Year Resolutions From the Whatnot Community

2023 on Whatnot was defined by sellers who created thriving businesses by bringing people together and sharing the products they love. From selling rare corals right out of fish tanks to hosting trivia nights during closet cleanouts, our community found new ways to make shopping more fun for everyone.

As we kick off a new year, the Whatnot community is looking ahead for more ways to grow their businesses and cultivate belonging on Whatnot.

Let’s take a look at the top 5 themes our community has for their 2024 resolutions:

  1. Become A Full-Time Whatnot Seller

  2. Everything Bigger and Better

  3. Increase My Whatnot Following

  4. Help Others Grow Their Business Too

  5. Start Selling On Whatnot

Become A Full-Time Whatnot Seller

Committing to selling full-time on Whatnot can mean many different things, but some of the common goals mentioned by the community this year are to host consistent shows, source highly sought-after products, streamline shipping processes, hire new team members, and put in 100% of their time and effort into building on Whatnot. The more you put in, the more you get out. Last year, the amount of sellers selling £10k a month or more on Whatnot doubled. It can be nerve-racking to take risks but when you bet on yourself and give it your all, the rewards can be huge.

Everything Bigger and Better

This year, ambitious Whatnot sellers are planning to host in-person events for the first time, collaborate with other like-minded sellers, work with celebrities and influencers, build booths at local conventions, and more. Almost everything you do in person can be streamed on Whatnot. Whether you’re going to a convention, an exclusive event, a theme park, or even just going to a local shop, if your audience can’t join you in person, bring them along through your shows so they can have fun from the comfort of their own home. Spark your creativity, do some cool stuff, and bring your Whatnot viewers along for the ride!

Increase My Whatnot Following

Increasing your follower count is key to gaining more buyers. There are tried and true ways to grow followers, but the short and sweet answer is to promote yourself unapologetically! Tap into your existing socials and word of mouth to friends, family, and even strangers goes a long way. Getting your name out there and giving people a taste of what you have to offer will help build your personal community.

Help Others Grow Their Business Too

Spreading knowledge can be just as valuable as spreading wealth. Luckily there are quite a few Whatnot sellers who have put in the work to make their dreams possible, and now they want to help others do the same. Supporting other sellers helps build and grow your community on Whatnot, so here are a few ways you can help each other out: raids, co-hosting shows, sharing tips and tricks, and collaborating on social media. Don’t forget that other sellers can be buyers, too! Let’s agree on no gatekeeping in 2024.

Start Selling On Whatnot

Finally, there’s a group of people in our community who are just getting started as sellers, and we couldn’t be more excited to have you as part of the Whatnot community! Here are some helpful tips to get you going:

  • Connect with and watch shows from established sellers to learn from them

  • Check out the Whatnot Seller Academy for tips and tricks

  • Follow @whatnotsellers on Whatnot where members from our team go live often to answer questions and hear your feedback

  • Check out our FAQ and reach out to our Seller Support team if you need any further assistance

  • Keep going! Some of the app's most successful sellers took weeks to months to start making a profit. Build your following, go live often, and connect with your audience. You’ll grow your account in no time!

We wish you a great start to 2024, and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish this year.
