Celebrating Pride Month on Whatnot
We’re celebrating Pride Month by highlighting some of our remarkable LGBTQ+ sellers on Whatnot who make a significant impact on the community, simply by being true to themselves.
Building a business that reflects their values and supports the community has been a dream come true for Speffrey. They are proud to be queer and to write their own narrative as hosts and business owners, nurturing a channel where everyone feels appreciated and respected.
As an LGBTQ+ business owner and ally, Riley is dedicated to creating an inclusive and uplifting space for all. For the last two years, she has built a close-knit following on Whatnot, and her audience has coined the name the ‘Swan-Squad’. She has embraced the entrepreneurial lifestyle while advocating for human rights, promoting love and acceptance, and inspiring others to do the same.
As four members of the LGBTQ+ community, FC_Cards2020 understands the importance of embracing their identities and using their platform to uplift others. While growing up, they noticed limited exposure to individuals similar to them so they are committed to being a beacon of visibility and support for others, showing that you can chase your dreams while being your authentic self. With a bit of snark and a whole lot of heart, they’ve created a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy and score some incredible cards.
As an LGBTQ+ business owner, Dorkyinnewyorky's goal is to foster an entertaining and welcoming place where people can express their dorky and lovable sides. Their dedication to community-building has made them a beloved figure, providing a space where everyone feels seen and valued, no matter what direction they point.
Marina finds their experience as an LGBTQ+ business owner in 2024 a healing journey, proving to their younger self and others that being true to who you are doesn’t hinder you. Instead, Marina stands as an inspiration, showing that authenticity and success can go hand in hand.
Joey's journey into selling comics on Whatnot began in 2021 while adapting to the post-Covid work-from-home culture. He quickly realized the potential his vast childhood comic collection would have on Whatnot. Motivated by others who were posting about Whatnot on Instagram, Joey took the leap and has been flourishing on the platform for nearly three years. Now in 2024, Joey appreciates the increasing visibility and acceptance of LGBTQ+ individuals in the workforce. Embracing his identity as a gay man, he feels fully included in both the Whatnot and comic book communities.
